Hi there NexusYuber, I was hoping to get your opinion on an idea I had for an OC (my Kenpachi). Basically she's an extremely narcissistic woman with a very ugly personality and when she saw how her Zanpakuto had manifested within her inner world (not the prettiest) she was repulsed by how it looked and tried to get rid of it by stamping on it, because she couldnt handle the fact that somthing from her own self would take such an unsightly form, and ever since that incident she and her Zanpakuto have had a very hostile relationship towards o e another.

So basically I'm wondering if the idea of a Zanpakuto trying to hinder its wielders usage of it during battle so that she may struggle, because of her foul treatment to the Spirit, s a good idea or not?

Sorry for the long comment.

Oh. Yes. Please. Do this.

In the canon, simply calling the Shikai under a different name can produce an entirely different effect. If she has an awful relationship with her Zanpakuto, you could pull off some interesting ideas. It would be increasingly interesting if the Zanpakuto attempted to make the weapon weaker, but the character found a way to use it to their advantage somehow. Maybe by using outside technology or chemistry or something. Easily playable.

I was thinking of making it so that it so that the Zanpakuto will make it so that in order to properly use its power my OC will have to allow physical injury to herself, a thing she hates doing, and also that when in its sealed form any form of damage besides the destruction of the blade, like it being chipped or bloodstained, cannot be undone unless the Zanpakuto wishes for it. I guess its more of a way the spirit can get back at the wielder for her awful way of treating it whenever they meet. The only good thing that comes out of this relationship is the fact that my Kenpachi had to learn how to excel in other fields of combat such as Kido and Hakuda.
