So, in turn, it's exactly the fucking same as earth

Thank you so much for the favorite! Welcome to DA. :) Robert Mapplethorpe is a great choice in favorite photographers as is Edgar Allan Poe for writers. Well, I'm off to cruise your gallery...

You are an art teacher? What age are your students, elementary, junior, senior high, university?
~Aartsee1:iconAartsee1: Jul 20, 2006, 8:01:23 PM
I am going to be starting my ninth year teaching high school. I have a great life because I love my job. My kids, many of them on here, give me so much inspiration. It's truely been my pleasure.

I use to fantisize about teaching high shcool art. Get 'em before they get full of twisted ideas about right and wrong. I built playgrounds for a several years, and I always obvserved the same phenomenon. Adults approach an element of the structure and ask "what is this part for?". Kids run up to it and instinctively put it to several different imaginative uses. Something about brain development after puberty that squashes one's ability to pretend, imagine, and associate.

What a neat visual. I try not to short change possibilities, but I do promote reason. I guess an adult can never be a child again... (not to be confused with being immature)

By the way, I saw your new works of your playground attatchments...fun

I have a bunch more I'll be putting up, it just takes so long to process the pics to a good size and resolution and all that mumbo jumbo.

Your glass is very interesting, I don't think I've seen stuff like that befor. How do you fuse it?
~Aartsee1:iconAartsee1: Jul 22, 2006, 12:17:27 AM
To fuse the glass I have several recipes. The pieces go to 1500 degrees in the kiln, with different hold times for annealing. To slump the glass (make it bend) the temperature goes to around 1200. I am much worse at slumping pieces because the annealing process is a lot more delicate. I just pulled some new pieces out of the kiln yesterday but haven't had a chance to photograph them. (because I have been spending all my time on here...oh well, it's been fun and inspiring) Check back in one or two days. I am really proud of them...they are a new style for me.
