Thanks for the favourites, curiosity is overwhelming me. How do you know Hagen and Volker? The Tale of the Nibelungs is hardly general knowledge outside German speaking countries.
Heh, well, I'm a fan of epics really, but I know them properly from Stephan Grundy's books, "Rhinegold" and "Attila's Treasure" - also very obscure books, I was very lucky to accidentally find copies in a used books store. "Rhinegold" is a retelling of the Tale, "Attila's Treasure" is all about Hagen, and they're both fantastic. So now I'm really into it . Gawd, I love used books stores...
You get a little art of Seigfried and Brunechild, but rarely of any other character, which is why I'm so glad to find your stuff. More comments forthcoming!

I recently reread the original epic translated into modern German. The gerneral knowledge of those heroes is however still widely known in Germany/Austria/Switzerland. A rather famours fatasy author (Hohlbein) retold the Nibelungen tale from the perspective of Hagen, very cool book as well...
Funniely enough I don't like Siegfried. he is just too much a golden boy. A much less interessting character, and then he is only around for half of the book
