sorry for comming in like this randomly but i really need to ask one thing about the group "AnyartistIsAccepted" how did she manage to get 9000 members and watcher in one moth ? it seams like a nice group but the pageview and group activity is far lower then my own group.
One word: Bot.
She is running her group with a bot.
Her bot (from what I have observed) requests artwork that has been newly submitted to dA website.
Since her bot does it by the 100s, lots of people check out her group and consider joining.
She also goes through waves... sometimes she puts her bot to use and then she doesn't.
My guess this is because she wants people to believe it is all just luck and she is popular.

I would never have thought about it, but it was obvious that she was using something.so you have also observed the group. I did send a message to DA but I had nothing to back it up with. have you told them ? I think its wrong but I am not sure its against the rules. I believe she knew people would find out many of her messages was hidden and she has not answered mine yet. anyway people need to know this. I will notify as many members as I can but they will still increase, if she got 9000 members in just one moth then how many else can she get in three or five. I don't know much about bots or computer but I will talk around and research it. thanks for telling me.

We all got the same answer that someone "determined" could be suggesting so many images and get so much traffic to their page.

i dont understand why they would accept it. its not actually hurting anyone. but it still feels wrong. i will keep spreading the word. and why does not DA do anything about it ?

But these groups support art thieves... so really, in between the lines, it is hurting someone.

I'm trying to talk about the art thieves problem to the founder of the group actually. But it seems she doesn't get what I'm telling her, or maybe she doesn't really care.

Most people don't even seem aware of it.
I contacted the helpdesk about it.
But they just give me answers that don't make much sense.
They don't seem to care about it.

They brushed it under the rug and claimed this person is determined. I asked how can one person suggest 100s of images at once... no proper response.

Some days 33.000 invites are send. Impossible to do manually.
There have been other groups acting in the same way. They all got banned by DA.
Makes you wonder what's going on behind the scenes.
I just feel sorry for all those people that leave a message saying thanks for the request.
They feel special cause they got an invitation but haven't got a clue it's automated.

33 000 invites a day? Holy crap. That is definitely automated.

Oh well, most of them are little kids, can't really blame them.
