Since you are new here you probaly want to get noticed on this site. Ofcourse you can find your answer in the faq: FAQ #56: How can I get noticed on this site?
The trick is that you just need to comment on people's art as much as possible. What also works is spending time at the deviantART forum and on dAmn which is an IRC channel where you can chat with other deviants in different kinds of chatrooms!

one of the features that i missed out on until now, a feature that helps you track a lot of stuff, is the message centre at the top bar. it keeps track of who added your photos to favorites, who commented on them, etc. etc.
it's very helpful in returning thanks. before yesterday i honestly did it the old fashioned way of going through every submission to see if my photos were being favorite'ed

Yeah, that is where I'm at 100% of time trying to 'hunt' people down for being nice to me! haha, good stuff. But yeah, I'm just at the adding photos stage, and when I'm done it will be time to get more serious about this.
