Attention all fantasy artists,
Hello, my name is nick and I am a scout for Netheria, an up and coming Role playing, tabletop-based game that is currently looking for artists that are interested in drawing fantasy art for our book. We don't really have a large budget to pay our artist, but what we can promise is your art being published in a book that is going to sell quite a few copies across America and probably in other foreign nations. Does this sound interesting to you? Please contact me at either through Deviant mail or My email, soemoithurtz@yahoo.com. I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you, have a great day.

Sorry, your message sounds more like spam. Even more so since I went to your profile and saw the same exact message as part of your journal messages for anyone visiting.
About giving out my work for free just to have it printed on a book, sorry again, but it doesn't sound like a good deal. Maybe if I was a young starting artist, desperate to have my work posted out there, maybe then I would be content with that.
But I've been around in the business long enough to have heard that story plenty of times and that in truth, for me, there is no real inmediate or important long term benefit.
You say you're just a budding new company. But I would suggest a more professional and respectful way of putting forth a proposal.
Like "how many drawings could we be talking about?" "what is the dead line?" "how will royalties be handled?" "will there be a contract signed by both parties to garantee no abuse of rights over artwork?" "will there be an art director involved? creative? team meetings of some sort?" "how will the book be promoted?" "how will credits for artists be handled aside from a mention on the book?" (since there's no money involved).
All this, if mentioned, would have told me of profesional, well thought out intentions. Right now, it sounds more like a free ride on other people's work.
Blunt, I know, but honest. I would suggest the same from you.
Wow, I looked at his offer and never really thought of my business dealings like you've just layed out in your post. Then again I am just an amature, haha.
Great to see that there are still honest people out there with the courage to tell it like it is!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
