i look around and wonder "who are these people judging me?"
who are they to say whats in my best interest? do they wake every morning in my body? with my thoughts running rampant through their skulls? deviant though i may be, whos to say i'm wrong? how can my "peers" judge me when thet are nothing like me? i do what i need to so that i can exist in this sideways world.

lots of "anime" art....i think the problem with this is.....it's hard to take this art form seriously. anime is made to be quickly and easily reproduced, and no amout of pretty lighting effects or great colors can make up for the fact that its quite "cookie cutter". just look at how many "anime artists" there are on here and you'll see that very few of them are able to do anything else. i say if you are an "artist" and an "anime artist" show us all some of your dynamic anatomy, show us some landscapes, show us anything but manga or anime related art..... and i dont wanna see pics. that make me say"hmmm...i feel like i've seen this somewhere else before" 'cause nine times outta ten i have, it someone elses work altered slightly..... now dont get me wrong i love anime art and asian art in general if it is fresh and original(and by the way i'm not a newbie to anime and manga, ive been into it since '83. tell me what was released and sold in heavy metal magazine that year for bonus points>;) so please kids try drawin something that doesnt require you opening a manga to copy or using the how to anime drawing books, leave off the pretty lights and filter effects....who knows maybe you can actually draw.

with so much talk of thinking outside the box i find it somewhat disheartening to see so little of it in the world of indy art. all around i only see more and more plagerisum labled "FAN ART", photos of pretty girls in black with angel wings photoshoped onto them, and just plain old random photos!?!?!? very little originality, very little creativity.......i personaly do not like drawing other peoples stuff because i feel like i'm commiting plagerisum. as a matter of fact i cant remember the last time i drew someone elses character or idea. perhaps deviant needs a special "fan art" (traced, copied, ect.) section? or perhaps i'm just a pretentious cock? i'm sure to some extent both of the above are true statements. oh well......i guess the moral of my little rant here is this(i'll commit a forgery right now!!) when creating anything you should always push the envelope whether it be an established limit or maybe a personal best.

heehee thanks:)

Yeah, when I read your statement on Anime, I was like "FINALLY! Someone agrees with me excaclty!" I mean, I'm seriously getting sick of seeing every one of the DTFs nothing but Anime. It's not fair at all. And did you see a few days ago that the 1st place DTF was just a sketch of 2 furry people? That really annoyed me. There are artists here who literally work days to perfect a piece and a 10 minute school doodle gets the DTF.

And you're so true about it all looking " cookie cutter". Most of it just all looks the same.;)
