How's life on the other side of the big pond these days? Hope things are going well, and thanks for the devwatch, soldier. Hey, how'd you find me, anyways?
I have deviously deviant ways of finding people, 'drew. The grass is greener on this side of the pond. How did I find you? I'm pretty sure you gave me the link to your gallery at one point or another... I just didn't decide to make my own gallery until now. Check out some of my works, most of it is old stuff you've already seen, but I have a pretty nice self-portrait up now.
Yeah, I spotted the self-portrait when I flipped through your stuff - it's definitely your best work so far! You probably don't have too much time to sketch over there, but keep it up, Jared, and I'm sure you can go far.
Self-portrait's are a great place to start, focussing on character and detail. Also, you're probably the only subject you can always find around you.
If you're looking for tutorials, I recommend [link] , [link] , and [link] . But hey, keep up the good work, man.
Hey, thanks for the links, man. I'll be sure to look through them. I am already very familiar with Julie Dillon's tutorials, I think that's where I started from like 5 years ago. I really should be practicing my manga drawing more... and since I'm IN Japan, for god's sake, I really should take advantage of it!! Though I prefer realism in drawing, and semi-realism/abstract body forms in painting. I don't know why I prefer the opposite things in drawing and painting, but whatever.
Just wanted to say that I totally agreed with you on your comments to Die Llama, Die Die! post. That post infuriated me to no end >.< and from the 1000+ comments I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one. Although my rant was like a page long LOL I had to scroll down to see all of it @_@ I just couldn't believe someone could be so ignorant an narrow minded... well anyways now I'm ranting here -hehe
I really like your work, keep up the good job

I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.
Just wanting to give you a pat on the back for being a wonderfully intelligent and verbose young man with a nice set of guts who's not afraid to state your opinion in a controversial subject line/thread (Read Llama) and having the foresight to do so properly and with passion.
Bravo, just bravo. We need more young people like you, my faith in the future is restored. You Being young and being smart.... I should fear you, but I don't.
Take over the world one eloquent argument at a time.
^_^
I read all the 1500+ posts, made my own early on in that thread yesterday... went back to see today what others had said and I saw you pop up a few times and you just made me smile.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
The Cutting Edge is a weekly article that features brand new selected high quality art products that caught our eyes. Check out the cutting edge prints some of your fellow artists have submitted in the past week!
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example.
