But of course! Excellent work deserves praise! Do you go to an art school or are you self taught?

*grins* Thankyou very much Kim, but i don't know about 'excellent'... if you're planning on sticking around DA for any length of time, then i think you're going to see artwork that could take my paltry scribblings and blow them away with ease.

As for my education, i had basic art lessons at school, but that was before i really got into art as a subject. It's one of those situations where, now i'm older, i look back and regret not taking full advantage of having the tuition for free at the time. However, i intend to get back to college at some point and pursue my dreams of children's illustration, or something art-related in the video-games market. I occasionally look forward and think 'Shit, i'm going to be cracking books for at least five years before i can even think about getting into the industry', but that was the hand i was dealt, and it would be ungrateful to complain about it when i have such a nice, comfortable life.

I LOVE your enthusiasm!! Its great to hear from happy people! Those basic art lessons have got u really far! Childrens illustration is something i also plan to get into! Im writing a small childrens book about a rabbit on a farm for my niece but i have to practise with my story telling skills! I recently purchased a largish wacom tablet but i also need to practise with that. Yeah i know alot of illustraion students at uni- they say itd be a really rewarding occupation. I took a second year illustration paper- it as the best thing i did last year. I learned so much! And as for game designers- theyre in high demand as well! Animation and gaming as really takin off in Nz since lord of the rings. Lol what do u mean by 'cracking the books'?

a) Ah, you're planning to get into the children's illustration market too, eh? I think you'll do well - i've had a look through the gallery, and it's clear that you've got a lot of talent for artistry.

b) As for the Wacom tablet, it's really a case of practicing. I have access to a tablet myself, and i can say with conviction that once you're comfortable with how it works, it's an invaluable tool - i've pretty much stopped drawing with pen and ink, in favour of using the tablet!

c) 'Cracking the books' is a term us oldsters use for putting your nose to the grindstone and really concentrating hard on studying. It's not really used too much anymore.
