When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me. Speaking words of wisdom, let it be. Hah, stuck in my head.

Thank you very much for stopping by...and regarding how to draw hair and make it look more life-like, really one of the things that has worked for me is to start filling an outline with softer colors of your hair palette, if you're using pencils, then it would be with a abit of dust from an H pencil...smeared with qtips or make up removal tissues or simple cotton cloth or a blender stick. you can try to fill this following strokes similar to the direction of hairs youwill use...also, pay attention to what part of the head is exposed to the light source, so that youcan plan on shading more the areas that are darker and shadowed by the rest of the hair. then youcan begin doing much more stronger strokes that will represent the hair threads. as you approach the roots around the forehead, try to actually draw the individual hair strands going in the direction of the hair fall instead of making a simple solid transition, so it doesn't look like a wig. also, pay attention to the shape of the forehead and that you dont get the hair to high or too low that the clear area and shape of the forehead does not match the actual person. A good way to develop how to resolve the problem with hair form and shape is to draw from an actual model doing one minute and two minute charcoal sketches on large format paper, which can be like brown wrapping paper, not necessarily bond or something fancy...remember that with charcoal and also with the eraser, you can actually have a patch of already drawn hair and youcan make highlights by erasing finely as if drawing a few hairs with the eraser tip. This is a neat trick that can bring like depth to the hair...so hopefully this might help a bit!
