It has gone up in flames...another conflagration, a sad moment where I just realized I got off the track and was just mucking it up, and the design was unsound to begin with. Funny how these things go: there is something about certain designs that I just don't feel comfortable, and no matter how much I work at them they seem to self destruct. Other works fly out in a flash and are completed in a matter of days or weeks (which is pretty fast for me). Well, I've got 4 failed drawings in three months. Though I shouldn't necessarily say failed, as I am getting a good handle on the brush, and enjoying the process very much...just would be nice to have a final ';product' to show for all the work. Resolved to play out my grudges on A4 paper from now on, at least until I get my rhythm back. These big works I've been trying to do just get out of hand. In absolute contradiction to how I used to work, I am now feeling that going too long on one piece seems to 'kill' the inspiration. I just get locked up in it, and lose the original impulse. Going to cut out one section and post it though, just for fun...

Looking forward to the final scan of the Perseus piece. It is looking fantastic. Quite an ambitious undertaking...

Back to the drawing board for me...

You're very kind - thank you!

Thank you! Most of those pictures are really old - I rarely ever update but I, too, hope to change that. :D
I hope you post more of your art. I am a big fan of the 'golden age' of illustration and your work has that classic feel. I am happy to see you are a fan of Dulac, he has recently become one of my favorites - such a rich, Eastern tinged style, and exquisitely delicate drawing. Have you ever checked out Kay Nielsen?
Thank you so much for your kind words. At the moment, I'm either having to photograph (and poorly at that) work, or pester a friend to scan things for me. I'm trying to post the unpublished things here. I know it's my work and I ought to be able to post things wherever I like, but I'm rather cautious about what my publishers would feel all the same!

Have you ever checked out Kay Nielsen?

I have indeed! I'm extremely fond of all the golden age illustrators. :)
you're very welcome

you have a marvelous style
Your work is absolutely fantastic! I can't believe you haven't gotten more hits. If you like, I would love to hear your opinions on my own work... and if you could join my group at :iconlamodehistorique:, I would be honored. I hope you shall be posting more of your lovely watercolors soon!

I've only just seen your kind comment (I'm new to DA and still find many things bewildering) . Thank you so much!

I've just joined your group, in fact, before seeing this - I was led there by your favourites.

I'll do my best to post work here. My difficulty is that I don't have a scanner and have to send photocopies of my work to a friend who kindly does the scanning for me.

As to the hits, well, I've no idea what a respectable number is, though I've seen people with hits in their thousands! It doesn't matter though - as long as a good, well-informed few with a genuine interest see the work, I'm quite content!
Dear God, your work is amazing *O* The details you put in your illustrations is just mind-blowing. Consider yourself watched ;)

I'll be sure to feature you next time I update my journal!

Thank you so much! I have so few pieces here because I don't actually have a scanner and have to send photocopies or proofs (if they're published work and I have a spare set) to a friend. Sorry if I'm repeating myself, but just in case not everyone has read everything! So I don't know if it would be worth people's time for me to be featured at the moment - but I do thank you for the notice, I'm really very flattered.
