Tam, you're very kind.
thank you!
I'd say the best way to learn caricatures is just get out and draw groups of people at parties,or family gatherings.
See, when pressured you have to work harder.
After I got out college my Pastor ask if i'd donate my time at the Church festival drawing. i was very nervous even though I've been drawing all my life... every caricature i did that night turned out bad, and i walked away feeling really depressed.
I started doing more shows & festivals and finally it started clicking like magic but it took some time.
the short answer is just start drawing all the time and you will find a style.
"keep drawing!"

I also teach online.

I am impressed with your work since I am new to drawing. I absolutely love the houses and would like to learn more about perspective drawing.

I have drawn from photographs and done a couple of landscapes/buildings. I will hopefully start to get my own gallery going soon. I am waiting for a picture to get back from the framers since it is a gift for my stepfather.

I am seriously impressed with the variety of work you do. How did you get involved with the realtors and selling the pictures to them?

Eli,
I got started in rendering house back in 1978 after i showed my work to to a Realtor, and they hired me.
My work at the time was pretty lame, but they started giving me 20, pictures to draw at "8 x 10" each.
I had a heck of time the 1st few weeks, but finally started to get a handle on it after a month.
i was working in bush & washes really fast.
As the months went on they started asking me if i could do more & more, and before long i was up 50 a week..then 70 & 80...i did 100 a few times but i was really beat.
i was working up to 18 hours per day some weeks.
Thats the way you get good , by jumping in an drawing fast all the time.
It just kinda happens, but it takes a few years to really know what you're doing.

the best way to learn caricatures drawing is just jump right in and start drawing.
Start off just drawing quick sketches of friends & family, and then parties.
Don't worry if they don't look right just try another one.
Try drawing people on TV , or on a DVD for starters.
spend a little time each day just practicing from TV, and do whole pages of people.
look at my sections on "Germany", thats my 1st really quick stuff, and my "bands ", where i drew on the spot drawings.
see, by forcing yourself (and people watching) you get better.

I just try to draw pictures when I can at this point, but it would be nice to have a part-time job drawing.

I will hopefully have something in my gallery within the next week. If nothing else, I should put up some of my writing until I can scan in some of the drawings and paintings.

Do you enjoy working with washes? I haven't worked with them at this point. Everything I have done has been in graphite alone. I paint in acrylics, but the style is completely different than my drawings. I wish I could merge my detail from the drawings with the emotion from my paintings...
