Iread your question in the forums, but it got locked. I just got a Nikon Coolpix myself. I am satisfied with it. It's not professional grade, but it will get you used to taking photos and will make an excellent camera on which to practice on. I got mine for $150 and it included a memory card and case.

i was looking into the nikon coolpix.

idk which one to go with though! i want to go with either the l18 or the p50, but i'm not sure.

my sister let me use her old hp photosmart m425 and its a piece of shit haha.

i would just really like to be able to take some high quality photos, but unfortunately with my budget that probably won't be possible lol.

Well I've got the s210 model. I don't mean to promote myself, but if you take a look at the photographs in my gallery, you can see for yourself what the camera is capable of. It's by no means uber powerful, but it might be good to start with. I highly recomend either Nikon or Canon. Stay away from anything by HP or Kodak.
