Reminds me of that trailer to Arkham Knight, which had a voiceover of Thomas Wayne's final will and testament. He expresses his hope that Bruce won't blow this fortune on fast cars and flashy clothes. Cut to show the game's new Batmobile and his new armored suit.

On the plus side, it also expresses his hope that Bruce will do good for the world. I'd say he did a fair job, even with all the deconstruction the Arkham series does.
He's Gotham City's only hope, so he'd better do a good job.
Indeed. And the game ends with him likely dead, or forced underground. With a new Batman emerging, more vicious than ever. (Of course, he endangered his allies and was unmasked on live TV, so...things didn't fare well.)
