I don't usually do contests or surveys. I'm mostly on here for me, and because I want somewhere to display my art, not because I care about popularity. I've thought about doing a few contests lately but really don't have that much time between commissions, so I've avoided them.

Yep. This is a good place to archive stuff, esp. since I hate HTML coding and all that. I think what irritates me is that I'll enter contests because I'm requested to but it seems kind of annoying as I don't really fit the genre of a lot of these in terms of the style I like to use. I also really don't like observing professionals getting passed over for Big Eyes Small Mouth/Nose faceshots that look the same .

ah no worries. I'm not leaving, I'm just staying away from contests and all that stuff. I have some beefs about other things that I didn't talk about as it would probably offend half the RPGing population out there. heh.

I totally agree. I don't even look at what's "popular" anymore, because it's the same stuff over and over by mostly the same artists. Honestly, I feel the same way about the DDs, so I just don't bother. I have some good friends here and this is an easy way to be able to see each other's art and stay (sort of) in touch, but otherwise, I don't venture outside of the people I watch very much.

I try to look at the front page once in a while as some good artists do float up, but I'm pretty discouraged by the overrated art overall.

I think maybe I ought to just keep lurking at conceptart from here on out and just use this place as storage. lols.

More than the popularity crap is the retarded drama. aughhhhhh... DA has given up on harassment and there's always some drama or another.

Yeah... that does suck. I don't have a genre, and I don't do anime, so that leaves me pretty well in the lurch. Not that I care, really... I just do my thing and don't get involved with the drama and politics if I can avoid it. I have people who love my art, which is nice. It makes me happy if I can inspire people. If not, well... I'm just learning still anyway. That's what this whole thing is, right? A learning experience.

I agree! I've never gotten a DD and frankly, I don't want one! It would attract a lot of people who were superficially interested in my work. :-P
