What a wonderfully thought-provoking journal! Bravo!

I was up all night thinking. If the photographer tomorrow complains about dark eye circles I'll tell him who to talk to.
I like your definition. Art as a sister to language - I completely agree, although I don't know how you can say that art is superior - how do you value such things? I don't think we are so far apart in our understandings. I just take mine to a different place.
Thank you! By saying that art is "higher form of communication" I meant more rarified and complex (in the sense of the "a picture is worth a 1000 words" ), and in some ways more fragile; not superior or "better than" language in the sense of placing a value on it. Perhaps that wording is clumsy, but the question of relative value was not on my mind.
But since you brought it up, I have to wonder about it. Some traditions, I think, may assign a superior position to Art (to include music and dance): Buddhism, as I recall, has a saying that, "The best things in Life cannot be said" and other literature has (though I have no sources to cite at this moment) dwelt on the inadequacy of language to address or convey our most profound feelings and experiences.
If Art (as opposed to language) is better at conveying the feelings that are most important to us, the things that are most profound and move us most deeply, then I think it might be justified to say that Art is superior form of communication.
I am not yet entirely convinced of the foregoing proposition; it needs to be pondered further to see if it has a more than personal foundation. For myself, I generally find words wholly inadequate for saying almost anything I really wish to say, hence my attachment to Art.
Of course, perhaps I am just less articulate than I should be, and as to the question of whether my attempts at Art succeed any better than my inadequate words in conveying my message, I cannot say. It is a conundrum, and I have not the wit tonight to unwind it.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
