dude what I do with pokemon to help them level is wait until you have a wild double battle like in eterna forest to level your pokemon then stay there till all your pokemon are a certain level cuz when you battle with the other trainer the trainer heals your pokemon after every battle. Thats what I do and I'm still doing it now so that all my pokemon wll be lvl 100...another tip is to get a pokemon who knows the pick up ability and level them as high as you can cuz the higher level they are the more likely they are to pick up rare candy...heres a usefull site that might help [link]
I've had the summer reading book for a while now and I've yet to start reading it, so don't worry about being late. 
And I know what you mean with not being close to family. There's only one aunt on my moms side of the family that actually likes us, and she's in Colorado. Luckily we get to drive up there at least once a year (which this year we're visiting this/next week ^.^). No one else on my mom's side likes us that much though, and my dad's side is pretty uptight and formal, so we never really get to interact like we really know each other. -.-
Anyway, I hope this doesn't sound like a rant, just wanted you to know you're not alone.
