Dude, haha, if it were that easy, I would have writen at least ten books by now. Falling inlove with a story you created yourself, but then a few weeks or months pass by and you look back on it and cringe at the plot and concepts. It's nothing new to the writing world. You're your worst critic. Stephen King threw the original copy of Carrie in his fire place because he strongly believed he had written a piece of crap that would interest no one. His wife pulled it out before it burned. Imagin if she didn't?

Men...
Men...
MEN!!!

Den är ju bra! D8

Partly I indeed agree with Omnivorous.
I myself am a writer too, and really, you won't believe how many times so far I have FULLY rewritten my story. So often, that I have never even yet gotten past chapter two (I'm at page 50 now -.-). I know how it is to be your own worst critic. Things just never seem to turn out like you want them to.

But you know what? I have talked with published authors, and you know what they say? Before they even go to the publishers, they pretty much have rewritten every chapter of their story about five to ten times, sometimes even more- and have polished all those same chapters time and time again. They say that the editing sometimes takes up almost as much time as the real writing does.

And, really, it is all part of the job, part of being a writer. It's nothing to be ashamed of and you definitely shouldn't give up. Polish your story until you feel like you really can't do any better.

When you have done so, or even before that, I would truly love to read what you have written.

Good luck with it anyway :3 Take care. And don't be too harsh on yourself.

Thank you greatly for your kind words - they are much (and even more!) appreciated. :aww: Fact is that you helped me to realise that it is a natural part of the process - a way in which the story can evolve and become greater than the sum of its parts.

Thank you.

Now I shall allow the story to rest, and then I shall polish and alter the plot and start all over again.

Thank you for your words. They were truly encouraging and made me see things in a new light. (Not that of a fire, however!).

Once more, thank you. Your words truly helped and your care is much appreciated.

I must say, I do understand your pain as a writer. A few years back, I gave my writing for the visual arts, because I told myself that I would be better off with it. However, I don't go a day without regretting my decison. I dearly miss writing, and when I read what I write now, I don't think it's of the caliber I used to write at, so I give up all over again.

That being said, don't give up. If anything, keep your story in your heart, but take on smaller writing tasks. Write and write and write and write until you are of the caliber you wish to be, and then attempt your story again. You're sure to like a lot more then, and you may even have some of the kinks worked out of it by then.
