I love Gerik. He's not MY Erik (my Erik is closer to Englund!Erik) but I feel Gerry did an amazing job. And I love his voice.

Sexifying Erik was an annoyance too but that goes up the same alley as the sunburn of doom.

The deadly sunburn yes, that thing was just WTF all the way through. These days with makeup and special effects and crap that could have gone so much better.

I don't read fanfic too often but I have come across a wonderful fic called "Unseen Genius" It does star sunburn Erik but it's so beautifully written I really reccommend it, whether you like the movie or not

I'm still waiting for a super special awesome movie version of Susan Kay's "Phantom". They could do sooo much with Erik's make up and stuff. Only problem is, I have y own cast of characters to play the roles (including up to three people making Erik come alive (One for talking voice, one for body and once for singing)) and if they do any less than what one would hope for, disappointment is abound.

Hey...he does look like Brendon Fraser in that make up D8

The fan girl in me sighs happily over sexy Gerik; I really do love his voice. (Guitars..."Did they... have electric guitars back then?" ) And then of course, I remember the real reason I wanted to see the 2004 movie anyway; cause I used to be a little girl that read Leroux's Phantom and had nightmares about shadowy ghosts in opera hallways for a week. The gentleman is scary as heck. I only hope I never grow into so much of a girly fan that I forget Leroux or Kay. I should read this journal from time to time to remind myself.

He has a death's head; not a bad sunburn. Get it right, Hollywood.

I know! he does doesn't he?? Raoul is actually a mummy. Who knew.

Ok, I will admit I do watch the movie... a lot :3 I guess I just get more easily irked, and it's just for those reasons, other than that it is a good movie. I think it's funny that he sings a lot better when he is angry though, don't know why, but it has a lot more emotion in it. I guess the reason it bugs me is because it makes me want to watch the actually musical and I can't XD

ah well, I'm just drinking and irritable. ^_^

A susan kay movie would be amazing! I would love to see that!

and I must look up that fanfiction. I read too much, and I can't keep spending my money on books so I read fanfiction in between :)

lol, it's ok to really like either, I was just forcing my opinion upon the world, lol. Leroux is equally good though, I guess there are so many versions it's whatever makes you happy! Being a girly fan is ok too (I've been guilty of it XD)

Hahaha!!! I just love what you ahve say!!!

The first time I see AWL movie I did not knew ANYTHING about PotO And I was like: What was THAT?!?!?!:O_o:

3 years later I find Leroux Novel, completly fell in love with Érik, and start to read and listen anything with PotO in... And then I understand the movie... And I was a bit choked to see what the musical (that I find good) had become...

I agree. I pretty much only draw and write from the Leroux version, although I really do like Gerard Butler. He's just not a good Phantom.

I completely agree! Erik is supposed to be much older than Christine. In the book, he is 50 when she is in her teens. Why do they look the same age in the movie?

They should have let Michael Crawford play him in the movie. He has an amazing voice!

I find Skeletal!Erik much more physically sexy than Gerard Butler....though that may have something to do with my odd taste rather than which actually has the higher sexy factor.

Also: Erik is supposed to have the most beautiful voice known to mankind. Gerard does....not. Not that I fault him for it, though.

you know what? I do too. I really don't find Gerard Butler that attractive, Skeletal Erik is much more appealing in my personal opinion.

The only time I like Gerard's singing voice is when he's angry, other than that it's bland and not very compelling.
