For me, I just wait for the mood to strike me, usually. Buuuut, sometimes it helps to get out of the house (town, whatever), do something different or fun, see some friends... you never know what might inspire you, often it's something completely random.

I um....... like watch anime and hang out around deviant art and try and find some inspiration that way. Other than that I'll try doing completely different methods of drawing and colouring and stuff like that, or some times I'll get people to tell me what to draw and I'll draw it for them.
Yeah, stuff like that. But other than that, it is a little bit of hard yakka but not 100% hard yakka.

Well that's just like.........your opinion man.
i think i just have a bit of a sook, then find a video game to play, eventually i forget im in a rut or a slump and next thing i know im drawing again.
of course being challenged helps. which is why i havent been slowed much by art block these days since joining a competitive comic club. though i really wish i could dedicate that energy to my own pursuits.
listening to my guitar gently weeping helps damn you now I'm going to be on a beatles kick and I've only just gotten over listening to Air for 3 weeks solid

If only I could think of something to put here...
D: I know what you mean hon. The worst is really wanting to do something and having the vaguest idea of what it ought to be but not actually being able to do it cus...cus you're anal, iunno. Blah.
Not really as helpful or advicey as any of the other posts, but I'm here to bitch and brainstorm whenever you need
Not much of a drawer, but I do hit the issue from time to time in my writing.
When that happens I try to play around with different things (like small short stories) that are as far from what I was working on as I can get. It either helps, or gives me something else to work on in the meantime.
I think it's different for working on and existing idea or a fledgling idea.
For an existing idea, you can sort of go into autopilot mode as most of the hard work is already done. Hard Yakka gets the job done, but since you're working on it an the delay between the last and this has been substancial (yes; blame it on the WoW), just go with it. When the creative mojo is refactored, just make sure to do it.
For a fledgling idea you have to sculpt it from nothing. But usually that comes at a time when you have a creative burst of energy. It's rarely come on for me when I'm at a lull.
In any case, if you want to produce works of value, take your time. I don't mean do a page that takes you 30 seconds to finish every month, but I do mean work on your stuff at a comfy pace. I have a similar thing with the List. I mix it up by doing panels (after planning them with thumbnails first, of course) in random orders, and doing pages out of sequence, just so I'm not bored. Also focusing on the more interesting panels first while in the creative lull and then doing the remaining means pages are done, even during low ebb times (wanted to do a portishead sour times reference to your george harrison reference, but it didn't q.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
Good luck with that pencil!
