The best advice I can give at the moment is advice that a friend of mine gave me:

Keep working to improve your art. Try new styles, be daring, try new techniques.

Get your best works together and create a portfolio of your work, online. Make sure to pick your favorite art, not art that may be your 'best' work. Showing some of your older pieces that may lack something in technical artistic ability does not mean that they lack creativity, which is what publishing companies are looking for.

If you get an offer, make sure of the price. Some places will screw you over. Some places will be generous. Make sure you either sign a contract or get a payment in advance to cover any time you spend, because otherwise, they might cheat you.

If you do get a crack at a cover... Read the novel, manuscript, or talk with the author. Nothing irks me more, personally, than to see a /beautiful/ novel cover that has NOTHING to do with the book, or has basic things wrong, like hair and eye color of the main characters.

If they make you sign a Non Disclosure Agreement, make sure to read over it first, and then make sure you DO NOT DISCLOSE anything about the novel you're working on, because you could be sued. >>

Submit your work at various publishing companies, try to talk to the art directors. It's always good to get to know your boss.

Since you're still a minor, make sure your parent or guardian looks over any contracts and they also agree with them, since minors can't technically SIGN a binding legal agreement in most states.
