Yup, bonnets and hoopskirts were such a lovely custom of that era.  The dresses looked especially pretty when sitting down or billowing with their many petticoats underneath. (I know, big skirt physics are awesome! ^^ )

Yeah I can understand the difficulty strolling in those cage crinolines... must have felt fascinating at a young woman's coming of age though, attending a ball maybe, wearing so many layers for the first time an wanting to swish and swirl all that skirt and petticoat fluff around. XDD

Oh yeah... well said. It reminds me of the ball scene in Little Women. I love that movie!
