LOL! We have them all over around here. I see them all the time. I will be out hiking or something and because they're so camoflauge I won't even see them, and then when I get right up next to them, it frightens them and they will fly away with a really loud whooping sound. I tell you, when that happens, it practically scares me to DEATH! I think like a giant monster or something is jumping at me out of the bushes.

hahaha how weird! i see peacocks where i am sometimes though that's once every few years ^^; though i do see the elusive robin in the garden sometimes...doesn't quite beat grouse though!
hahah yeah i hate the sound of birds flying low over your head, parrots are the worset!

Wow, peacocks!! Yeah that would be awesome to have birds like that around here!!!
We have a lot of boring birds here. Mostly stuff like grouse, quail and pheasants. And then of course there are crows, seagulls, ducks and the like. We also have wild turkeys. We do have Osprey, but not a lot in this area. You have to go a few miles West to really get into their habitat. Plus we have hawks and bald eagles, but you don't see them as often. Same thing with the great blue herons. As far as colorful birds go, we get a few bluejays and bluebirds every now and then. Haha, low flying parrots? I still think grouse are the worst! One of them almost managed to scare the life out of our dog once. My dad was out picking wild berries, and he had the dog with him, and the dog went uphill into the brush, and a grouse came flying out of the bushes making it's loud whooping sounds, and the dog came running back down the hill with his eyes popping out of his head. :omg: He sure thought something was gonna get him!  :lmao:

aww i love pheasants!
yeah we get blackbirds, starlings and seagulls mostly..ah i've never seen a wild turkey :D wow...the odd sighting of eagles totally trumps rare sightings of peacocks! hahah yeah the low flying ones in captivity :P i think it's also because they're claws are soo long i'l always scared they're gonna catch me on the head and they do for my hair clips :shakefist:
hahah bless it! in our garden we have this really protective blackbird who chases other birds away, the other day i was out taking photos at the top of the garden, Lili (our dashund) always runs down the garden to try eat the bird feed, 10 seconds later she came running up the garden again actually completely like :omg: and then i looked down and there was just the blackbird stood there like :D HA!
sooo funny she's scared of him now!

Hahaha!! That is soooooo funny!!
Your dog sounds a lot like my dog!!(different dog than mentioned in previous grouse story)
Have you ever seen the cartoon "Courage the Cowardly Dog"?
My dog is a lot like him, except that my dog is a big dog!
He is scared of everything. He's even scared of our cats. He slinks away from them and hides in the corner. Too bad for him that one of our cats just adores him, and rubs herself all over him. He get's this look on his face like he doesn't know what to do! Haha! :lmao:

our other dog - Timmy - named for his "timmy tendancies", smells flowers when we're on walks..which you know the first few times you think he's just picking up other scents...nope he's definately smelling the actual flower  i need to get a photo of that and he'll just stand there smelling them wagging his tail :P
