Of course it may well be there are two subspecies, both similar at a quick glance, one of which produced an electric current and one that spits up acidic spray. I can see electricy evolving in this enviroment for an ambush preditor who lays half-burried in sand on a migration trail or the path to a watering hole for some animal to brush up aginst it and unleash its stored charge to drop something much larger than itself while it feeds.
Perhaps, but considering that there's literally no evidence for this cryptid at all (beyond verbal accounts from the locals), trying to classify it and any hypothetical relatives might be jumping the gun a bit.
