hehe thank you man ^_^
about the black, well, I think that is really important.
when you see windows vista-tan she is wearing clothes with dark and transparent areas, and her hair has that green-to-blue gradient that vista has.
my point is, with tans, their look is related somehow to the OS/program they represent.
and something (as cool) as the CLI needed a tan girl too.
I'm happy seoth finally did it.
but I think she has somehow to wear something that resembles a terminal
I mean, if you see a pic of vista-tan, you know at that instant why she is vista-tan.
but if you see cli-tan wearing something that is not black, and you DON'T know ubunchu manga, you only are seeing a girl wearing blue (or any other color) and you may ask yourself "why is she CLI-tan? where the cli part?" of course, if you know ubucnhu you know why.
if there was an official logo for the cli or something besides of only the dark or white background, we could relate cli-tan to the cli even more
unfortunately, we don't.

XD anyway, on any terminal you can change colors and therefore she can wear blue or any other color

XD maybe one of this days I'm gonna try a cli-tan "white terminal mode" lol

Hehe, preaching to the choir buddy. I've drawn a gajillion OS-tans, including all variants of DOS-tans that are all pretty terminal-like themselves (and of course, the goddess System I UNIX-sama). ^^b

Ironically, I've drawn just about all except Vista, because honestly another Vistan isn't needed (there's about 1,423,644 variants of her already, ugh). Better to focus on OS-tans that haven't been properly represented yet. -v-

Appearances matter, true, but so do references and context too. Otherwise, no one would ever know that Inu-T and Saba-chan represented Windows NT and Windows Server 2003 respectively without knowing a little bit more about the culture of canon OS-tans. Similarly, only a handful of those Vistans actually look like the main Vista interface (I imagine the one you're thinking of is included here) -- the others are hodgepodge of botched ideas and internet memes scattered all across those image boards.

Likewise, one really should read Ubunchu to get the context of the dress too. -v-

But as you say, a CLI-tan should be inherently flexible, and capable of switching colors on the whim. I use a gray and green termial, for example. Standard *buntu users have white on black. And of course the debconf terminal window is of course... *drum roll* ... blue and red! LOL. XD

So yeah, let her be able to change into different dresses -- maybe each one gives her a different power. ^^

Oh, and also.... it was technically Risa-chan who drew CLI-tan. hehe.... ^______________^

Damn you c-quel! *this is tounge in cheek*

Your original work was CC-BY-NC and never changed and now there is another awesome related work which is not CC-BY-NC-SA. My rfsc the Non-Commercial disease is spreading!

Anyway, the work is still awesome even if it's not copyleft.

hehe, don't blame me. Remember, my insert page inherited the NC off of Seotch-san's work, and only cause it had that small snippet of his manga. LOL. :D

But don't worry, my Akane wallpaper is nice, BY-SA and Copyleftingly-delicious.... ^.^

lol! there is such as thing as mixed licensed you know! (this is where your original parts are something different from the additions and the total license the user must abide is both added together, in this case if someone wanted to use one small part then that part would fall under the more permissive license and not the restrictive one, see how BSD2 licensed works are embeded in GPL works)

True that, although it's a bit more ambiguous here in DA since we can only formally select one license type at a time. Maybe the description can be used for more explicit licensing details, but I never did like terms of use advisements in descriptions.

In any event, no use crying over spilt milk. That NC isn't going anywhere, so just try to make the most of it. ;)

You seem to have a built in Ubuntu radar, so knew you were gonna find this eventually. ^^b

I do a search for it every so often :-) Besides I figured we could build our very own Ubuntu using community on dA eventually, when we get enough artists.
