I'd think the kafit bird would only have six total limbs, like the other animals on the Andalite homeworld. Perhaps some of its wings double as legs? So when it's flying, it uses all six limbs for locomotion, but when it perches it uses some for grasping.

The odd thing is that their mouths are all on their heads. If they have shared evolutionary ancestry with andalites, they should have their mouths on their limbs. The kafit bird, for example, would have a serrated spike for a beak, but would have mouths on its limbs; I'd suggest one or two pairs of limbs have hollow spikes used to drain speared prey of bodily fluids and squishier organs during flight, and then the dead prey are dropped from the sky. The andalite predator would have jaws in its paws, not its head.
