Oo, I'd vote for without outlines! I bet you could pull it off, and it would look pretty cool. Or you could do it with outlines and then just edit out the outlines and see which looks better.

It's been a while since I did outline-less work, and the last time I did I used the burn and dodge tools. This time I'll be using the paint brush at low opacity, so it'll take more getting used to. But, Shadow's dragon form is a friendly colour to me, so hopefully it won't go too badly.
What I'm doing though, is I'm doing all the black outlining first, then I can use it for guidelines. And, if it doesn't work, at least I already have the lines and can start over with the colouring.
