Yeah, I know what you mean... a lot of the time the spontenaeity of sketches make them look better, imho. I've botched up so many painting jobs it makes me wanna weep. That's probably why colouring in computer feels so much safer. 
I think the neck looks fine - natural anyway. I guess realy human necks are mostly like that, and it looks fine from the angle her heads at, so no prob. You're good with faces, I must say. And you're right about it being a good Rogue pose... It looks like it could be her on the front cover of one of her issues.
