OK you get it wrong. Im not trying to make WB/VS users happy. This is an update of an old theme that I made, Quantum [link]

To me this is one of my best themes.
That was a 2003 release, in which case it might might explain the 'dated' feel this newer reworking/skin has.. you know, the time when almost everything was bubbled/embossed/curved/big/bulky/loud .. since then there had been a move to more compliant themes that feel "just right" sitting on a desktop.

I do feel that you might be spending a little too much time keeping WB users happy, spreading yourself a tad too thin, or possibly you've lost inspiration and are looking a little too far back instead of forward; lets face it, the Apple conversions have been done to death and I guess you want to be remembered for more than being a "good porter", but it hasn't worked with this release and thats just a fact you have to accept.

I've read some of the more constructive comments from people who have used this skin .. and they seem to be saying that its "too white" .. "its too bright .. " .. "I don't like the start panel .. " and the fact that your only up to 26 +faves after 3 days is pretty much proof that this skin is one of your poorer skins. StefanKa's beautiful "SE" update had around 143 +faves in 2 days if I remember correctly and that must surely be enough for you to accept that your latest effort just isn't on par to previous works.

Forget your pool of back-patters .. because sooner or later they'll stop if you carry on like this.

You have a completely wrong idea of me. I’m not trying to make anyone happy and I didn’t create this because I don’t want to be remembered only as a good porter. What a stupid comment.
I’m not competing with anyone. I don’t get a lot of favs, even the most downloaded msstyle here on deviantart (Aluminum Alloy) only have 143 favs. Comments like its "too bright" or "too white" are ok with me but say that the theme is cheap or poor because you don’t like it it’s not ok.

If you think this theme is shit why don’t you create one and see if you can do it better. If not I think you need to shut up and have a little more respect on people that create themes for free.

bye

I would argue otherwise.. and that its all too blaringly obvious that you have been caught up in the middle of two camps and that your influences have resulted in this self-indulgent atrocity.

Oh, but you are..

Yes, one of your more popular conversions at a time when there was little true inspiration in the VS scene .. times have changed now as has +faving .. the vast majority no longer +fave for the sake of it. But like box-office returns we can usually gage by the two days worth of faving how people are going to take to it; +23 is an awful return because it just means that people are not connecting with your presentation. I would also argue that at least 18 of those are from fan-boys.

Kol.. this theme is more Windowblind than VisualStyle, just check out your own screenshots - and no amount of dressing the blow up is going to change that. You might as well up sticks and dedicate all future releases to WindowBlinds if this is what VS users have to look forward to. You just have to accept that its not on par with your usual efforts. If anything you should be improving and sadly you've gone 2-3 years back with this style.

Now whose being the silly-billy and getting all hot under the collar.. Let's get the facts straight - your all eager to soak up the praise but when someone gives you a certain amount of criticism you just can't accept it. You really have been living in a glass house and surrounded by your back-patters for too long.

I don't like this skin for all it represents, largely because its going backward to a time when we were overrun with loud, ugly, bulky and blaring skins. If anything DeviantArt was a place to get away from that sort of thing and you, sadly, have just taken us back there. And what's more, you just can’t see how poor this skin really is.

Calm yourself down and move onto the next skin;.. but remember your only as good as your last release.

OK you are a fan of minimalistic skin, if you don’t like more elaborate skin well don’t use them and don’t post comments that don’t contribute anything on how to improve the theme.
I have received a lot of critics of my themes over the years and you can ask anyone that I accept those critics. What I don’t accept is saying that the skins is poor and cheap without having a good argument and simply because you don’t like it.

Next time if you don’t have anything good to say don’t post it.
I don’t see how “poor”, like you say, this is theme is because is not. Sustenance and Kuantum are the best I’ve done to date and if you don’t like them just don’t use it. I know that a lot of people like them and that is what motivate me to continue working with this.
Your terminology of "elaborate" to describe this skin clearly means that you look upon your skins being rated by the amount of "gimmicks" they introduce and not the overall work or functionality; -- your centrepieces are title-bars/start buttons with large awkward "blaring in-your-face components" that when stripped away leave little true design innovation. If anything you are pulling a fast one.. attempting to take attention away what's not there by drawing attention elsewhere; big-gaps of devoid inspiration.

I get the impression from all that has been said, that you have no interest in the actual user who is going to sit down and work with your skin; just hit them with a few bloated buttons, colours, panels, scream .. shout.. but do not give any thought into the operation of the skin in daily use for prolonged periods of time; “in-your face” works for you so you stick with it.

Take your Sustenance skin as a prime example, seeing as you raised the issue. If you remove the most “in-your-face” aspects that ultimately define this “elaborate” skin, you’ll find that its void of any true substance.. infact, its bare bones.. extremely bland, bordering on banality. There is no true innovation to it and yet here you are arguing that its one of your better skins.

Your better skins, of which there have been numerous, have ultimately been from “conversions” whereby you have had most of the glyphs/etc. supplied from other works, keeping you “on-rails” and to a more structured design; yet you have clearly learned nothing from this time.

I continue to stand by my original comments that you have created an abomination in regard to the first VisualStyle that belongs solely in the WindowBlinds arena.

Big? Bloated? In your face?

What are you running at DS? 800x600? This skin isn\'t perfect, and there are things about it that I\'d like to tweak, but thats the case with most skins, even the Royal Inspirat Special Edition skin. If you don\'t like it, be constructive, and don\'t try to make out that the skin is crappy: it ain\'t.

In summation, good work Kol. I, for one, am happy with it :)
I\'ll put your comments down to your tender age ..

But having said that - I\'m more than pleased that you are enjoying the skin; and hope that you continue to use it for many a month. Your obviously easily pleased.. I just hope you continue to go through life with the same attitude.
