well my opinion is, what layed the egg that what we now call a chicken, was not a chicken, the chicken evolved, QED the egg came first *ding* round 1

im glad you agree, most people argue with me out of spite

I'm a zoologist. It makes sense. The only problem is that on the evolutionary trajectory from one species to another, there almost never is any one point where you can say 'now its a chicken', its a gradual thing.

true, i agree with that, but in my opinion, there is still a definitive moment, somewhere where it more resembles a chicken than i dinosaur or whatever it was before... well i think so anyway

I guess if you give a chicken a very specific definition, then there has to be a generation where it first meets all the criteria

well exactly, i know there is species variation and things like that but to be honest, if it doesnt have scales, it does have feathers, it lays eggs, it has that weird little crest thing chickens have, is fat and can barely fly, then its a chicken

Many dinosaurs actually had feathers, and they all laid eggs, but couldn't fly. I'm sure some were fat. And not all chicken's have crests... :p
