I don't like the old Japanese Godzilla, this version of Godzilla Is Sooo much better. Also cause, right afterwards, we got Godzilla the Series.

But, still. The 1998 "Zilla" is actually LESS realistic. It's legs and overall physical build are too thin and frail to support its own weight. It would crush itself just by standing up.
The original has thick, pillar - like legs that are strong and muscular enough to support his own weight.
Plus the fact that Zilla is a fucking pussy. He was killed by just a few missiles. Those exact missiles would be useless against the true Godzilla.
