A part of my point is that in the end, everything can "lead you outside the reality and your social life", make you crazy, or make you die. It is all about moderation, and personal choice. Why should a food addict be treated any differently than a drug addict, for example. Or a parachuter! It's ridiculous!

Yes, exactly. Unfortunately sugar gets you addicted quite fast as well. If I eat a lot of sugar for a couple of days, I find it a bit harder to not eat sugar than if I hadn't, if you know what I mean. It is all about the motivation, and will power to continue or stop.
