Yes a photo-manipulation of another manipulation? How'd you like your art stolen and just add something n call it his? LOL.
I don't see the problem here. He modified it a lot. He should give credit to the original author, yes, but it's not entirely stealing. Stealing would be if he copy and pasted it onto his profile.
It shows how much you know about 'a lot' and copyrights.
He has no right to 'modify' the original image without written approval from the author.
He has no right to go around and say 'oh it was my idea I came up with it from a nickname on the net'.
It is stolen. All he did was add another tree, add a small house in it and cover the water which in my opinion it would've gone much better being there.

If I design a house with 3 beds and 2 baths, and you design one with 3 beds and 2 baths but has a slightly larger living room and the kitchen is on the opposite side of mine, is that stealing?

Honestly, I get where you're coming from and what you're trying to say and respect the central idea behind it, but I think you're wrong. And if anything, this is a great representation of the kind of artistry that can be inspired by other peoples' work. Maybe somebody will create another work from the inspiration that they were delivered by THIS image rather than the original one.

Having your own idea which is similar to someone else's is one thing.
That if you never saw the picture before.
But I mean let's be honest. This guy just got the image and added something on top of it.
I never said I was in the art for recognition. But I would never like to see someone take credits for something I came up with.
At least if he had built the image from scratch not just download and add on top. So yeah for me this piece is equal to 0 and I'm truly disappointed with dA for not getting it down. I never said 'don't use that stock like that cause someone used it in a similar way -a hand that holds a tree' but at least don't download the image change it a bit and call it 'my original idea' .
