Thanks Aeires. I'm just LOVING rings, because there's so much I can do with it. It's like sinusoidal in that there's so much I can do within its individual shape and style. Fan confuses me a little, but I'll probably putz with that a bit more. I realized belatedly that the one I said was fan was probably rings. 
Oh well.
In a way, if I manipulate rings variations right, they come out like modernist abstract art...and they generate some very interesting forms and end up using gradients in ways most other fractals don't seem to.
I doubt the rings craze is gonna end anytime soon...as you can see I've found a lot of ways to mess with it. And zero scripts...it's almost like a script in and of itself.
