Plutarch actually said that Cicero wanted to marry Clodia, and Terentia was wildly jealous. Some of Cicero's biographers have said this is nonsense, but they're probably just biased. I think it's certainly more probable than many of the other, far more absurd things in Roman histories that people have accepted without question.

Re: a Cicero/Clodia novel, I've done some work on one, but I'm afraid it would take years to finish (I'm not very swift at these things). Maybe someday...
