Oh, next time you feel that the colors are taking an odd turn, why not wash the paper (in the sink)? It will leave a faint trace of color that you can use for the background or to build a color scheme that you might like more. 
Inks don't wash off, as far as I know, and I use more ink than watercolour when painting lately. And I do like the colours here, why are you saying this? 
Because you always seem to be displeased with the way your watercolors turn out. 
Um... that's not entirely true. I did ruin the original, but I like this version that I scanned. And even if I could wash off the mistake, it would ruin the background which is a pretty big deal. I'm afraid I'm not one of those magical people who can correct their watercolors.
