Alright then, B4 Tails became a sonic character he was a doll. There are MANY origin stories for it but you'll find this one the most.
Many years ago there was a little boy who loved Sonic and Tails was his favorite character. The boy loved the doll and brought it with him everywhere he went. One day, the parents left the boy alone and came home to find him dead on the kitchen floor. A bloody knife in one hand and his beloved Tails Doll in the other. Now, hours b4 his mother heard strange noises coming from his room and she saw him saying strange things to the doll. (He said "Can you feel the sunshine?") The police ruled his death a suicide but every one else knew that it was the doll.
