Hi again!

I'm back for some more advice if possible. There is no colour on it (sorry!) but I just can't figure out what would work so suggestions are welcome. Anyway, without further ado may I present Akiko Tanino (name is pending)

Hi, sorry about this huge delay! I haven't really had energy lately, a large variety of things going on.

Soooo I like how the lineart looks! A bit more history and personality to bio and you are good to go!
Sweet! Thanks, I have some ideas about her bio but nothing set in stone.

Any suggestions on her colour scheme? Your ideas have been extremely helpful.

I would go first by her personality and then choose the colors (or at least this is how I prefer to do with my characters).

To specify, I find it more natural to give bright colors to confident/boastful/extroverted/childish characters and toned-down colors to modest/introverted/insecure/shy/mature characters. People tend to express their personality by their clothes, and color choices often reflect how they feel about themselves (not always, but often). Rule of thumb, the more you are comfortable with standing out, the more bright colors you are willing to wear.

For example, when I was a kid, I wanted bright colors (my favorite colors included red, yellow and orange), because they were more appealing to me (like to many kids), and I didn't really have self-esteem issues. However, around my middle school age, I started to lean towards moss green, brown, and tan, because I went like, "bright colors are for kids, I am more mature if I tone down". Additionally, I was shy around the other kids, and I subconsciously wanted to "camouflage" myself and show my modesty, something I realized later. This stuck on me for several years. In recent years, I have regained some of my confidence, and while I still largely have greens and browns, I enjoy to blend in a little brighter colors, like more rich red and teal. I have also started to shift towards black, since black goes well with all kinds of colors. Nowadays my wardrobe keeps jumping between my old green-brown palette and black-plus-a-colorful-pop palette. Sometimes I use brown-plus-a-colorful-pop palette.

As general guidelines; you may prefer to stick on a few colors instead of going full rainbow. As the rule of thumb, use 2-3 main colors (black does not count as a color here as it doesn't "catch" the viewer's eye, use it freely) plus their variations; single color looks easily boring, more colors look easily confusing (some people may get these work, but it is difficult). Having tiny details in different colors than the main color is okay as long as the outfit mostly consists of the 2-3 main colors. I don't think that there are really wrong  ways to combine colors, the different combinations just suit for different purposes; opposite colors (like blue and orange) look more energetic and attention-catching, related colors (like light blue and lavender) look more calm.

It's all about how you want to express your character and what kind of impression you would like to give of her.
