The name of the book.

Well, it's a Romanian book called The planet of the average people.

Ha! Sounds good. I've never heard of it, but I'll keep a look out.

Bertha was kind of inspired by a 50's style Chevy Nomad and a UPS truck. It's basically an oversized, outdated interplanetary delivery truck. It also reminds me a bit of the space Winnebago from Spaceballs.

I love this detailing! I'm faving this, and +Watching you for more.

'Bertha' may be its name; but it really gives the impression of a more modernized 'family wagon' that 'Junior' will someday be begging dad to borrow for his date -- whether it comes back with a few new dents and dings is another matter....

I think I'd like to try making a 3d-model of this craft. Any possibility of doing some other angles, especially of the view from within the cargo hold? :)

Thanks for the fav and watch. Glad you like her!

I really would love a 3D model of her, and have a rudimentary one that i did myself for reference, but it doesn't have the interior. I'll try to work up a schematic and post it if you want to do a build. Do you have any images of other things you've built? I didn't see anything posted in your gallery.

I do have some vector files that I used to cut an acrylic version of Bertha and some of those could be used as reference. You can see some not-so-great pictures of that model here.

Oops, sorry for any delay in responding. Life, the universe, and ... everything. Sure, I'd love to see something more schematic of this craft, or another cutaway from another angle.

And, no, I don't have anything to post to my gallery, as I've really not put any effort into anything (yet). I fancy myself to be more the writer than the visual artist, more notably of Asimov-styled science fiction; I use my deviantArt account to seek out a lot of starship art (rendered and drawn) as well as real-life photography. -- It keeps me grounded to reality, anyway....

I'm not saying that it will be a centerpiece in my writing, but I'm also not saying that I'd leave it out, either. All in all, I'm looking for starship art and conceptual shots that might fit in my own written universe. Think, somewhere in between Star Trek and Star Wars, but without the saucer-hull-nacelles style of 'Trek. And, maybe a dash or two of the styling depicted here, in Bertha...

Obviously I would trust that you not use Bertha in any recognizable form in your work, but influence is indeterminate. This ship is the central piece in a story I have written and plan to adapt into a graphic novel.

Good luck with your story! I'll check it out when you post it.
