Aaaand, I made one tiny little error in my tutorial.
You don't copy the Visual Style folder, just the two folders inside it.

x_x I appologize for any inconvenience.
Um, sorry, know this is an old post but shouldn't the two folders you mentioned above also have two theme-files with them and (".theme") extension? Couse I don't get this otherwise. Just placing the two files from "Visual Style" into ("WINDOWS/Resources/Themes"), after patched with UXTheme mulipatcher, makes no difference - i.e. doesn't show up in properties > appearence tab > windows & buttons! Well, unless I'm missing something here?

Using XP SP3.

oh thank u so much for the help , i totally appreciate it. i tried it and didn't work for me. does this apply for vista?

Ah, my instructions were for XP.
So if you're running Vista, I can't really help, seeing as I don't have Vista myself. If I'm not TOTALLY mistaken, Visual Styles like this are made pretty exclusively for XP.

It just so happens there's a Visual Styles for Vista section here on dA!

I have no idea how to install these because, as I said before, I don't own Vista. So you're kinda on your own from here on in.
However, it can't be that complex, and I'm sure there's tutorials out there. There's no reason to need a 3rd party program to install these (like how you really don't need StyleXP for XP Visual Styles) unless Vista is COMPLETELY different from XP.
Whatever happens, do some research into it before trying to install.
Hope I've been of some assistance! ;D

Actually, with all due respect to spymerinator, you don't have to have StyleXP.

Once you've downloaded the visual style of your choosing, open up the zip and copy the folder out to wherever you want it.
Then take the folder, check inside to ensure it has a .msstyle file; in this case, it's in InspiratSE/Visual Style. You'll see 2 folders, and in each is the two style choices you get with this theme.
Go up a folder from Visual Style, and then copy the Visual Style folder.
Go to My Computer, then hit your main drive, probably (C:).
Go to your Windows folder and once there, find a folder called "Resources". Under Resources, you'll find "Themes".
Paste the Visual Style folder from InspiratSE in there, and rename it from Visual Style to InspiratSE.

Once you've done all that, go to your desktop, right click, and hit properties.
In the Display Properties window, go to the Appearance tab. Under the Windows and Buttons drop down menu, you should find your visual style, if you've done everything correctly.
;D Hope that helps.

You need a program called StyleXP.
When/if you get it, go to the visual styles tab and click add visual style on the bottom left corner. Then browse to where you dled the .zip file, and open it. Voila, you have the style.
