You're getting better. I might add some more highlights from the fire but I like. Muddy color sounds to me like you're lowering your bit depth, are you working in 8 bit?
I had to open the file in Photoshop to check LoL but yes it seems i am. Should i be? Ugh sometimes i feel like such a nub about stuff. i suppose its how one learns though 
It's not hurting you here. I think 16 might be better (more colors!) but JPEGS are 8 bit files anyway so this shouldn't look much different. Is it different from the JPEG version on your machine too?
