Except in French is "Vive l'Imperieum et L'Empereur !" otherwise this is in Spanish or Italian.

I am fairly certain they are not French inspired. I fail to see them wearing bright red and blue uniforms while carrying extremely long rifles and marching towards machine gun nests. Also, Krieg is German for war.

And that is where you are wrong, you need to look at the late -war French Army.
Also you need to look at the Way their Uniform is cut, not the Colour.
The Soldiers Helmets also look very French (Officers Helmets non withstanding)
about the Rifles you have a Point, but remember that they dont only draw inspiration from the French army. bUt also the German (the Grenadier Squads are basically Stoßtruppen) and the wrappings around their Legs remind me of the British Standart.
Finally i know what Krieg means, i am German myself.
