I agree, Katara is one of the most complex charters, I see it like this she lost her mother at the age of 8 I'm pretty sure, from there on out it was up to her to start helping out, she had to hunt for with Sokka, she was the one to clean and cook the food, the one to do most of the work and she had to do this all at a young age, she was forced to grow up. She took on so much and keeps going, she left with this young kid and her brother and stayed in her mother role, she took care of them, helped pick up ever ones emotional baggage, and the only one I ever saw break through her walls was Zuko, and that was in the caves under Be Sing se.
