hey I can help you out with the ponyville town some, for one you can see the train tracks in the overhead intro shot of ponyville directly behind the town hall tower (the line that goes through the field) [link] <--- from the shot Im speaking of
you can see a good chunk of sweet apple acres in the left corner of that shot and is opposite to the entirety of the everfree forrest where you can see fluttershy's cottage (has a fense and chicken coop with a green grassy roof) and Pinkie's farm (only building that Ive seen with a cross shaped chimney) as well
so the river is a barrier between the forrest and the farm... also if you are putting the Carousel Boutique with the tented area of Ponyville then the river appears to run between that part of town and the town hall

Sadly, that particular shot would be the infamous title song view of Ponyville. There are so many things screwy with it that I'm not even going to bother listing them. Instead I have a quote from Lauren Faust that should help prove my point: "I know it's been touched on, but not completely defined. I think Everfree is West of Ponyville. AJ's farm is South West and Fluttershy's cottage and meadow North of her farm, right on the edge of the Everfree Forest (ironically.) I couldn't say where Whitetail Wood is, to be honest, and Canterlot is Noth East. " ( [link] )
I do have a rather decent idea of where the train station is on my map however, as indicated by the text on the map saying "Train Station." Since we have not seen enough of Ponyville to get the exact building and street locations quite yet, I am refraining from adding detail on the train station and all the rest of those locations marked with text. After all, it is better to have a general idea with accuracy than to have specifics that are wrong. Bit of a pain to have to rework everything all over again...
