I love the rational maturity your utilizing there, and as much as I would love to join you with it... Im just not ready for that on THIS particular issue.

Public apology would be an act of contrition on their part. It says "yes, we made a mistake, please forgive us" rather than just taking the "well you arent important enough to pay attention to... we will do whatever we like because we run this place and all its members are our property, they will take what give them and like it"

AS A PAYING PREMIUM MEMBER, I feel that if I am paying them, such as I am, they have a greater responsibility to me than if I was just a free user. Because it is a service I am paying for. I am not throwing my money at them so that they can INSULT and OFFEND me. Yes, it was practial joke, and I am sure it INTENDED no harm, but the fact is they were WRONG, they made a bad call. They need to OWN UP to it, take responsibility, and make some gesture to AKNOWLEDGE that they did so. I dont care if they are hanging their heads in shame (which I strongly doubt is happening) I want them to take responsilty for the fact that they INSULTED members of their community. It IS ultimately important because WITHOUT it they are sending them message that we just arent that important. THAT actually does MEAN something... which makes it important. And THEY WILL likely pull that shit again next aprl fools day, with some different subject they are promoting, again regardless of who it pisses off.

I dont want an ECLIPSE banner next year...
I DO NOT PROMOTE or SUPPORT anything twilight related. I do not endorse it, and it does NOT represent me or my values or my art. I actually firmly oppose it, very outspokenly. Anyway it DOES mean somethng, and I am most likely never purchasing any DA related items or sevices ever again due to this. I wont SUPPORT something that doesnt value my participation, membrship, or respect my boundaries. AS A PAYING MEMBER it really is insulting.

Hmmmm...I can really see your point since you are a paying member. It does seem rather wrong when you put it into that light. I don't pay myself but if I did and they suddenly changed something that I put my time/money into I would be pretty upset.

Even though I use Da just for fun (and to talk to friends I have on other sites) I wasn't happy about the change's they made.

And when I think of the fact I could have been stuck with the Lady Gaga icon...-shudders- I can see why you would be so pissed. Maybe they should have to compensate for the paying members that they offended (like yourself).

It was a LAME joke on their part and I only hope they don't pull this crap again next year. I actually spent about 20 minutes near tears thinking my computer had a virus and was going to crash at any given moment!

Which would have been the end of owning a computer for me btw. ^_^; So yeah they effed up in more then one way with their idiotic prank.

Like I said, PUBLIC APOLOGY is in order. Some small gesture that tells the WHOLE COMMUNITY that "We are SORRY", but I dont see it happening, and Im not holding my breath for it.

...and I am also not reknewing my premium or purchasing any products from them again. If they dont value my membership or participation enough to show BASIC RESPECT to me as an indivdual, then I dont need to be supporting them either. Its really quite simple.

I wonder how many other people are taking the same stand about this that you are? You can't be the only one who feels this strongly about it.

I dont know, Im not upset by it anylonger...

Like I said, for every action there is a reaction. Their action was to insult and say "get over it", my REACTION is to stop giving them money them to treat me like that. Simple as that.

Judging my the number of journals that popped up similar to mine in my watch list, AND the response my own journal has been getting, Id say there are quite a few people who feel very similar to the way I do about the matter. Like I said; they could sove it easily enough... they (DA admins) just seem unwilling to be held accountable or responsible.

It looks like all we can do is hope they never do it again -_-; Besides even if they did apologize what could it POSSIBLY change? What's done is done what matters is what they do in the future and present.

It would change the perception that they just dont give a shit...
which would go a reat way to restoring the faith that was lost in them.

But I am not seeing it happen, so Im not holding my breath. But again, cause and effect, they just lost MY business. I aint paying for it anymore.

Most people are to proud to admit their wrong, sometimes it's just too much to expect.

They were going for shock and awe but ended up with shock, awe, confusion, and anger. Faith is something that you have or don't. No one apology is going to set things straight. If they want people back on their sides they have to earn it over time.

Besides you have to remember that though it was an offensive book to some people, that still makes it only that. A book. The only power it has is the power you give it.

On a side note you don't really need premium here. DA works just fine without it.

If DA wants to make a real difference then they should keep a better eye on the messages people send/post.
