It was renamed when it was realised to be in a different group of birds altogether as it's an accentor.
Sadly Tree and House Sparrows are in even more difficulty...both are on the red list
I'm just glad that in the past few years many species in decline have began to recover slightly...I hope that trend continues

i hope so too.. the amount of sparrows i saw as a kid was in huge proportions, i think i seen 4 in the past year!
I've not one in months...it's awful
