Comment on Leaving DA? by jvdgoor

I posted something similar in my journal a few days back...it's unfortunate, but I just find myself spending more time on flickr and uploading less and less to DA. The interface on flickr works far more smoothly and has some very intuitive features. On DA it seems I spend too much time hitting "reload" to have much fun.

I understand and agree (obviously) on the issue of technique. However, I do feel that dA is a better community, more interesting works. That is my dillema. Until now I haven't found a better visual-arts community. I have a Flickr acount but I hardly use it.

You're right - it's definitely less about the community and more about showing images on flickr. I don't know if you're interested, but I have found one group on flickr that has a really strong community. The threads are incredibly busy and the conversation ranges from photo topics to completely unrelated chatter and the attitude is generally a positive one. It's a different vibe than DA, but a good one all the same. All that said...DA is it's own breed of community and it's a shame that technical issues have taken away from that.

For the time being I am going to stick around for a bit and try to focus on the content instead of the technique. I will see how things look when my memberships expires in december.
