I don't know. I know that there are shows that are not-so-popular like Tom & Jerry Kids (with only 894 deviations, if you add quotation marks around it) in comparison to the now-popular Disney's Frozen (35,000 something deviations. Phineas and Ferb, with 70,000 something deviations, has even more.). Maybe deviants should work together to create a "Undiscovered Shows" feature, which is a feature of any show that has less than 1000 deviations submitted.
I was also asking this question to myself: Should original art be well-known to rather than just relying on fan art as the key to being popular? Because I was wondering why deviants who write "how to be popular" tutorials write "DO NOT DRAW ORIGINAL ART. DRAW FAN ART THAT EVERYONE LIKES." My opinion is ,"No matter what type of art you do, just keep on doing your best, and ignore the spam messages you get every day."

The problem I have found when doing Fan Art Friday articles is that for shows with less fan art there is also less quality fan art, so the features either drop in quality or don't happen since I want to feature 10-15 pieces. It has frustrated me a lot as well, so I was thinking of doing a couple special editions with a mix of fan art from various shows/books/etc that are less popular here on dA
Honestly, my fan art is the most ignored stuff in my gallery so I always laugh at that advice. What it comes down to is if you have something good (original or not) and give comments and faves to others, people will return the favour

The less quality thing has given me a question to ask you though. Which one of these deviations do you consider "good quality"? Try clicking on the deviation for a better view.
