If you really want, but I'm warning you that the animation won't look as realistic or cute as it does now. Hair that heavy would not bounce realistically and yes, it will cover up the better part of the hoofprints. You have to remember that this image is very, very tiny so even the smallest edit is going to have a large effect on the overall picture.
