Thank you! I usually do a black and white drawing with all of the shading in graphite before I color it in Photoshop, so that there's a bit of 'tooth' to the image. You can also make a color filled layer (I usually do light blue or yellow), set it to Soft Light at anywhere between 20-50% opacity, and then put a Texturizer filter on top to get a sort of paper texture. Watercolor textures set to Soft Light are also pretty effective! :3 Hope this helps, and good luck with your own work!
